Investing in product protection is one of the best ways to help you save money on your online purchases. While we do our best to take care of our products, unfortunately, accidents still happen, and having the right product protection plan can make all the difference in helping you get the most out of your purchases when the unexpected happens.
However, finding the best warranty plan for you can be difficult. From high upfront costs to lengthy and confusing contracts, it's hard to know which plan will help you get the most out of your investment. Although you’re probably familiar with the idea of warranties for larger purchases (such as cars, furniture, or large appliances), did you know that you can also protect almost all of the items you buy online? This is where a warranty subscription comes in.
Mulberry and AKKO both offer popular product protection subscriptions. But what are the differences between the plans, and which one is better for you? Here’s everything you need to know about both the Mulberry Unlimited subscription and the AKKO Everything Protected subscription:
The Mulberry Unlimited subscription allows you to protect unlimited purchases for only $9.99 per month (Yes, really unlimited!). With Mulberry Unlimited, you can cover larger purchases like furniture, expensive appliances, and tech equipment, as well as other items you might not realize you could protect, such as jewelry, eBikes, fitness equipment, and more.
With a Mulberry Unlimited subscription, you can essentially cover all of your online purchases. The plan allows you to file unlimited claims every year, and you can be reimbursed for up to $2,500 worth for your purchases.
An AKKO warranty, or AKKO Everything Protected plan, allows you to insure your phone, as well as 25 additional items. The plan includes coverage for accidents, theft, and battery and parts failures, as well as unlimited claims (up to $2,000) per claim. This all-inclusive plan costs $15 per month, and deductibles cost between $29 and $99 (for non-phone items, the cost is $99 per adult).
Have members of your family that you’d also like to include in your plan? An AKKO warranty offers an option for families too, with savings attached. You can get a 5% discount per phone added with a family plan.
Although Mulberry Unlimited and AKKO Everything Protected share similarities (they’re two of the only warranty subscriptions on the market and both include coverage for accidental damage), there are several key differences between them as well.
First, while AKKO allows you to cover extra items in addition to your phone under the Everything Protected plan, you can only include up to 25 items. Mulberry, on the other hand, allows you to cover unlimited items (although your cellphone is not included–you can purchase a separate plan for that!). This is a major perk.
Second, while AKKO and Mulberry are both reasonably priced, Mulberry is ultimately cheaper than AKKO ($9.99 per month compared to $15 per month). Another difference is that the Mulberry Unlimited subscription does not require members to pay any deductibles, while the AKKO warranty requires deductibles that can range anywhere from $25-$99 per incident. Although this might not seem like a lot, filing multiple claims can really make this number add up quickly.
The AKKO Everything Protected plan and Mulberry Unlimited protection plan both have benefits, but it really comes down to your personal circumstances. If phone coverage is what you’re looking for, the AKKO plan might be a good fit, but ultimately, Mulberry Unlimited is less expensive (less than $10 per month compared to $15), allows you to cover an unlimited number of your online purchases, and you’ll never have to pay a deductible. With Mulberry Unlimited, you can trust that you’re getting the best bang for your buck.
